Myself and Dad volunteered at different events for St Luke's over the past few years and then unfortunately we ended up needing their services earlier this year when their brilliant team provided end of life care for my dad. They were absolutely fantastic when looking after dad as well as our family through this difficult time. I now receive young people's bereavement counselling through the hospice which has been really beneficial to me. Losing a parent in my early 20's has been very tough but the team at St Luke's has been there with us every step of the way in this process.
A little bit more about St Luke's:
For more than 35 years we have been providing specialist end of life care and support to people from across Plymouth, South West Devon and East Cornwall, whether in the home, hospital or at our specialist unit at Turnchapel. We care for people with serious illnesses such as cancer, motor neurone disease, heart failure, multiple sclerosis and chronic lung disease, treating any adult over the age of 18. We do all we can to involve patients in decisions about their care, to maintain privacy and dignity in providing that care and to respect patients individual rights and religious and cultural beliefs. Our approach to care is holistic, centred on the needs of the individual patient.
